What I Saw Out of The Classroom Window

Yesterday I looked out of the classroom window and began to laugh when I saw that you had gradually moved outside of the classroom to get a better internet connection! You looked so busy that I didn't disturb you - I just took these photos when you weren't looking!

Our First Reconciliation.

Congratulations Year 2 on receiving the Sacrament of Penance. It was a wonderful celebration on Saturday and I was very proud of you all. You were very reverent and prayerful. You all participated fully and sang and danced beautifully. It was fantastic to see you all remember your special jobs and help your parents with their jobs. You were very careful with the candles too!
I especially loved watching your beautiful faces both before and after you went to speak to Fr John and Fr Eric. You looked like little angels. Always remember that special feeling you get when you know that you have been forgiven because you are so loved by God. May God bless you and keep you safe.

Silk Worms

Wow... over the past few weeks we have witnessed the entire life cycle of our silk worms. We saw them grow bigger and bigger until they spun their silk cocoons. We saw them nibble their way out of the cocoon and turn into moths. Now they have layed eggs and some moths have started to die. What did you find the most interesting thing about our silk worms?

Book Week

This week is Book Week. Our theme was Book Safari, so we all made masks to look like jungle animals. We paraded around our playground and showed everyone the wild side of our personalities. We had to be careful as our teachers dressed up like the hunters who came looking for us. I wonder if you can recognise us under our masks?

Thanks Mrs Sharpley.

Keegan knows all about what teachers do to help the community. That's because both his mum and dad are teachers. Mrs Sharpley spoke to us about the many things teachers do apart from teaching. I wonder who wants to be a teacher when they grow up?

Firefighters Visit

The firefighters from Maroubra Fire Station came to visit us at school. We were so excited to see the fire engine in our playground and hear the siren roar! The firefighters spoke to us about what they did and showed us the equipment they used to help put out fires. We got to go inside the fire engine and even got to try the hose! We had so much fun. What did you learn from their visit?

Dr Dan White's Visit.

Dr Dan White, Director of Catholic Education, came to visit our class today. He came with our friend Ms Brown from the CEO. They spoke to us as we worked collaboratively in our learning groups. They were both proud of the way we worked together and helped each other to learn. Dr White asked us lots of questions and encouraged us to think deeply. What did Dr White talk to you about?

Cafe OLA

A big thank you to Lili's mum who brought us all a hot chocolate and spoke to us about her busy job. Being a barista is hardwork. Lili's mum, Maria, works long hours and doesn't get many days off work and she makes yummy hot chocolates! Thanks Maria.

What did you most enjoy in Term 2?

We have had a very busy term, filled with excitement and learnings. We have learned about different type of shelters. We built a shelter for our class pets - our hermit crabs Mr Crabs, Patrick and Lightning. We built Aboriginal style Gunya's out of natural materials. We even had a tent in our classroom.
We created lots of procedures and did a lot of cooking. We made fruit salad, fairy bread and frog in the pond jelly.
We learnt about living things, studied life cycles, visited the zoo and even watched chickens hatching. Wow - what a term. What was your favourite activity?
