Use of Water In the Community: Baleigh's Mum Visits Year 2

This week we have been learning about how people in the community use water. We brainstormed different jobs people do that use water. Firefighters use water to put out fires, hairdresser wash people's hair with water, plumbers fix pipes that hold water and carpet cleaners use water to clean carpets. The list goes on and on. Baleigh's mum used water when she was a swimming instructor and more recently she uses water as a Pre-school Teacher. She came to visit us and we asked her some questions about how she uses water at the Pre-school. What questions did you ask her?

Shape Poems

This week we have been writing shape poems. This one was written by Allora.

First Independent Photostories

This week we learnt how to write cinquain poems. We wrote poems around the theme of water because we are also learning about water in Science. After we wrote our poem, we searched for photos that we thought matched the words. We then used Photostory 3 to create a digital text. Finally we had to create music that suitably matched the poem. I'm so proud of you all! Take a look at these two examples of what we did today.

We have been writing rhyming couplet poems to share with our mums on Mother's Day. Why not add your couplet to our blogs so that everyone knows what you think about your mums!

Triskills - Gymnastics

This term we have had a great time at Triskills practising our gynmastics.This week our focus was on partner work.in all of our activities we had to work with a friend. For example, we did push ups, sit ups, bar swings and balance beams with a buddy. What do you like the most about Triskills?

Fun and Games

Today in Sport we played a variety of team games. We played these games in our new learning groups. What did playing these games teach you about working together?

The Parable of the Sower.

This week in class, we heard the story of The Parable of the Sower. We retold the parable using story telling materials and took photos of each scene we retold. Using the Smartboard, we learnt how to download photos and import them into Moviemaker. Then together as a class we made our first digital story. I hope you enjoy our movie!

Year 5 Class Visit

Yesterday our friends from Year 5 came into our class and worked with us on our notebook computers. We all practiced logging onto our Myclasses page and following links to different activities. We showed them some computer work we have been doing in Maths. They think that we are really clever! Thank you Mrs Butcher for letting Year 5 work with us.

Maths Groups

Last week we started to do some work in learning groups. We had fun playing a maths estimation game. Some of our guesses were very close!
